Arc Weldable Strain Gauges

Description

Applications:

Designed to be arc welded to steel structures in:

  • Tunnels
  • Excavation bracing
  • Piles
  • BridgesStandard unit has a 150mm gauge length, a 3000µε range and a 1µε sensitivity.

The gauge is adaptable for bonding to concrete or bolting to steel surfaces via the end mounting blocks.
Operating Principle:

Steel wire length is tensioned between two mounting blocks that are arc welded to the surface of a structural steel member. Deformation of the structure under load produces relative movement between the two mounting blocks causing a change in wire tension and a corresponding change in its frequency of vibration.
Using standard vibrating wire principles easily read by loggers or readout.

Advantages:

    • Robust user-friendly design
    • Long term stability
    • High water resistance
    • Read over long cable lengths
    • Read with standard vibrating wire loggers and readouts.
  • Removable coil so easy replacement if cable is damaged
  • Automatic temperature compensation via hermetically sealed thermistor.Specifications:
