SIL 2-Capable PointWatch Eclipse® can detect methane and butane in 1.5 seconds
Detector Electronics Corp. (Det-Tronics) recently announced the availability of fast-response options for the PointWatch Eclipse® PIRECL infrared gas detector, a SIL 2-Capable infrared point gas detector that detects methane, propane, ethylene, butane and other combustible hydrocarbon gases. The new fast-response detector has been certified by the approval agencies FM, CSA and UL for its detection of methane and butane in as little as 1.5 seconds. Det-Tronics, the global leader in fire- and gas-safety systems, is represented exclusively in Australia & New Zealand by HMA Instrumentation part of the HMA Group.
“The Eclipse with the fast-response option is the fastest, third-party-approved point gas detector available for methane when assembled in a ‘real-world’ configuration with weather protection including a hydrophobic filter,” says Anup Shetty, manager of product management, Det-Tronics. “It is important for our customers to know that our published response times are certified and reflect the actual use of the detector in the field.”
The Eclipse, which has signal outputs that include isolated 4-20 mA output, HART communication, RS-485 Modbus RTU communication, and the Det-Tronics Eagle Quantum Premier® (EQP) Safety System local operation network (LON) communication, is easy to install and requires infrequent calibration.
