Flow Meters

Variable Area Flowmeter (Rotameter)
Variable Area Flowmeters from HMA INSTRUMENTATION are a cost-effective option for precise flow measurement of liquid and gas. Here a weighted float rises in a sealed tube as the flow rate increases. It stops rising when the area between the float and tube is sufficiently large so that the weight of the float is balanced by the drag of fluid flow. The float’s position on the scale can then be read off as the flow rate.

Positive Displacement Flowmeter
Positive Displacement Flowmeter provide high-accuracy measurement of the volumetric flow rate of liquids and gases. They measure the volume of fluid passing through a meter directly by repeatedly entrapping fluid and dividing it into fixed, predetermined increments.

Vortex Flowmeter
When a fluid (liquid, gas or steam) meets an obstructive body with a certain minimum flow velocity, the fluid can only follow the contour of this body up to a particular point, after which it curls up to form a vortex. This happens, in turn, on either side of the bluff body. The vortices (eddies) travel downstream, forming the ‘Kármán Vortex Street’.

Thermal Mass Flowmeter
HMA INSTRUMENTATION provides flow meters of outstanding quality and exceptional dependability, and which exceed the most challenging industry requirements. In dry or wet gas environments, the flow meters from HMA INSTRUMENTATION define the industry standard for the highest repeatability, accuracy, and reliability.

Ultrasonic Flowmeters
Ultrasonic Flowmeters from HMA INSTRUMENTATION provide a continuous non-contact level measurement of liquids and bulk solids. They operate by emitting sound waves that are reflected off the target product back towards the sensor. The level is then calculated based on the time taken for the ultrasonic signal to return to the sensor.
Ultrasonic Flowmeters from HMA INSTRUMENTATION are based on proven, reliable technology, and require minimal maintenance due to their non-contact operation. They are able to operate in dusty, smoky or vaporous environments, and function equally well with clean or dirty liquids and solids. They are ideal for water-treatment applications for pump control and open-channel flow measurement.

Magnetic Flowmeters
Magnetic Flowmeters are volumetric flowmeters that are ideal for water applications or any dirty liquid that is conductive or water based. They utilise Faraday’s Law, which states that the voltage induced across any conductor as it moves at right angles through a magnetic field is proportional to the velocity of that conductor. Electromagnetic coils apply a magnetic field to the metering tube, which produces a potential difference proportional to the flow velocity perpendicular to the flux lines. The potential difference is sensed by electrodes aligned perpendicular to the flow and the applied magnetic field.

Pitot Tubes
Averaging pitot tubes from HMA INSTRUMENTATION are the ideal solution for applications where permanent pressure drops are to be kept at the absolute minimum. Pitot tubes offer a simple and economical flow-metering solution in existing pipelines where no prior flow-metering device exists, and where major pipeline modifications are just out of the question.
