The ultraviolet fluorescence technology (UVF) spectrometry principle underpinning it relies on the electronic configuration of the molecular structure for each compound. Aromatic hydrocarbons, which include carcinogenic compounds like benzene, naphthalene, benzopyrene, etc, both excite and emit energy at specific wavelengths.
The fluorometer’s response to each sample is measured by the instrument. Samples are extracted in methanol solvent using disposable test kits, and then placed into the analyser for analysis, where the concentration is displayed in only a few seconds.
